After attaining a BFA in Communication Design with a Minor in Marketing from Louisiana Tech, I have been working as a designer for various printing companies in the Shreveport area. While in school, I worked on all types of projects from logos to web design to screen-printing. I had two of my pieces selected for the annual Student Art Show my junior year.
My first job out of college was for CASAIC printing. While at CASAIC I was a member of the Shreveport Bossier Advertising Federation. This job offered me the opportunity to work on various types of jobs from logos to brochures, mail outs, posters, signs, t-shirts, promotional materials, and the list goes on. Before leaving I was promoted to a manger’s position. I was in charge of large format printing, decal printing, and vinyl graphics.
I made my second home at LaPressCo printing. Once again I was able to work on various types of jobs. I also added prepress work to my resume. I would run jobs through the prepress system and burn the plates for printing.
Most recently with the bad economy, I found myself looking for a job outside of the design industry. I currently work as the Group Ticket Salesman for the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings. I also do the design work for the team as well.
But at last I was able to secure a job at Insty-Prints in downtown Shreveport. I continue to work on the same type of work has I have in my previous design jobs.
In addition to regular full-time design jobs, I work as a freelance artist for collarfree.com. CollarFree is an independent artist bases t-shirt company. I had several designs submitted for voting and had two designs selected to be printed and sold.
Throughout my career, I have been apart of the design process from conception through production. I have a greater understanding of what goes into a piece, what will work in production and what won’t. I spend time each week reading about new processes and learning about the ever-changing industry I so dearly enjoy.
